Nature is for everyone regardless of age, ability, or background. As an organization, we recognize we need to continually adapt to ensure our facility and programs are more accessible.
Included is a listing of accessible features found at Woodland Dunes Nature Center & Preserve. If you have questions, suggestions, or feedback about accessibility, please contact the Nature Center at 920-793-4007 and speak with a staff member.
VISITOR CENTER
Automatic entry doors at the main entrance open to the lobby and gift shop. There are no stairs within the public portion of the building. Wide doorways open to the exhibits and education room.
Accessible indoor restrooms are equipped with automatic entry doors, grab bars, and wide space for maneuvering wheelchairs. A wheelchair-accessible, gender-inclusive, family restroom is located near the education room. Most bathrooms have changing tables.
PARKING
Accessible parking spots are located in front lot of the Nature Center, with a wide cement pad for unloading and loading; and behind the Nature Center is an additional spot with a wide cement pad located next to the observation tower for closer access to the pavilion, tower, butterfly garden, and Cattail Trail.
A gravel parking pad is located in the grass parking lot on the side of the Nature Center.
Pavilion & Observation Tower
A cement path leads from the Nature Center to the shaded pavilion, including a wheelchair accessible picnic table.
A cement path leads from the pavilion to the observation tower. Here, either a short set of stairs or a wheelchair and stroller-friendly ramp lead you to the first level of the tower. View the pond and marsh from here while resting on a bench.
Cattail Trail (0.3 mi)
A cement path leads from the Nature Center to the boardwalk of Cattail Trail. This boardwalk was recently updated by WisCorp – making it wider, lower, and more accessible to all.
Butterfly Garden
A cement path leads from the Nature Center to the Dorothy R. Star Bee and Butterfly Garden. This garden has a wide, swinging gate and cement paths for easy maneuvering within. There are also benches and chairs for relaxing.
