Sue Crowley, Executive Director
Sue Crowley has been affiliated with Woodland Dunes for over 20 years, as a partner, a board member, and land manager. She became the third executive director in our 50 year history in January of 2024. Sue is a graduate of UW-Madison with a BS in forest science and an MS in soils. Sue is charged with the overall operations and guidance of our nature center. Her favorite tree is Tsuga canadensis and her favorite bird song belongs to the hermit thrush.
Jessica Johnsrud, Education Coordinator/Assistant Director
Jess has been with Woodland Dunes since 2009, first as a volunteer and then as a staff member. She is a graduate of UW-Stevens Point with a BS in Biology. She is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of educational programs and assists the director. Her favorite bird song is the black-throated green warbler and she enjoys birding, reading and cooking.
Max Kornetzke, Land Manager/Butterfly Garden Coordinator
Max started at Woodland Dunes as a habitat restoration intern in 2023 and started full time as land manager in 2024. He is a graduate of UW-Madison with a BFA in Studio Art. He found his deep admiration for native plants through hiking and home landscaping and loves to grow native plants for their beauty and ecosystem functions. He manages our habitat restoration projects such as invasive species control and native plantings. He also manages our summer habitat restoration interns and organizes volunteer opportunities in our preserve and butterfly garden.
Jason Prigge, Development Director
Jason is a long-time community advocate, marketer, artist and nature lover. He and his wife founded The Coolest Coast, a community engagement platform focusing on the positive attributes of the lakeshore area. He brings years of experience as a non-profit board member and business owner. He is in charge of fundraising for the organization with the continuing goal of sustainability to insure Woodland Dunes is enjoyed for generations.
Jenifer A. Thompson, Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper
Jen is an accountant specializing in nonprofits and started working at Woodland Dunes in 2020. She is responsible for the finances and management of the donor database. Her professional career also includes low income housing, financial planning, and substance use disorder services. In her spare time, Jen enjoys exercising and spending time with her husband and grandchildren.
Kennedy Zittel, Naturalist
Kennedy began working at Woodland Dunes in 2020 as a habitat restoration intern and was hired full-time afterwards. She is a graduate of UW-Green Bay with a BS in Environmental Science and Geoscience. She splits her time between teaching education programs, helping with habitat restoration, and leading many of our wildlife research projects. In her spare time Kennedy likes to go camping, kayaking, and loves to spend time with her mastiff Gus.
Kyle Kraus, Cleaning Specialist
Kyle has been working at Woodland Dunes since 2022 through a partnership with Ascend Services. He is responsible for cleaning the public facilities. Kyle is an avid bowler and bocce ball player with Special Olympics and enjoys listening to music.
